About Me

My name is Lars U. Johnson. I am an assistant professor of industrial and organizational (IO) psychology at Wayne State University. I earned a MA and Ph.D. in IO psychology at the University of Houston, a M.Ed. in Educational Administration at Lamar University, and a B.A. in psychology at Tougaloo College. Prior to starting my doctoral studies, I worked in the North Texas area as a public school teacher, trainer, and department chair for several years. Currently, I teach the first-year IO seminar to new doctoral students and personality psychology to undergraduates. My research primarily focuses on leadership, climate, and culture, individual differences (e.g., personality), performance, well-being, safety, decision-making, and human resources. I plan to start a research lab for leadership and applied research in 2018.

I am also the managing principal of Emrik Consulting. Emrik specializes in 360-degree feedback processes, survey design and delivery, and workgroup archival data review. Consulting services focus on leadership analysis and review, performance management review, selection review and development, and general organizational development.

I balance work with the best family anyone could ask for. I am married to the best woman I ever met and we have two handsome sons. As a unit, we enjoy outdoor activities, ice cream and hotdog stands, and family trips to the YMCA.
